People in Space is an emerging network of young architects, creatives and professionals engaged with architecture and the built environment.
The network is architect-led but cross-disciplinary, bringing together young construction professionals (engineers, surveyors, lawyers, project managers, urbanists, developers), artists, designers, musicians and writers.
People in Space supports this community in the transition from studenthood to becoming established practitioners, encouraging creative and intelligent thought, collaborative cross-disciplinary work, and consideration of the wider issues of the built environment. It is a new voice and showcase for the emerging generation and facilitates dialogue between professions and with building users.

Development to Date
People in Space is a project stemming from the work of the RIBA Young Practitioners Panel (YPP). People in Space is a wider network including non-RIBA members and non-architects, which liaises with the RIBA via the YPP.
Over the last year we have trialled several elements such as sectoral meetings, regular socials and online forums. This work has been essential to gauging what young architects need and want, and how best to deliver it to them, given their financial and time constraints.
We have secured the support of the profession, the RIBA and the Architecture Foundation. We work closely with Archaos, the architecture student society, and G4C (Generation for Collaboration – bringing together the young members groups of each profession).
People in Space are:
Pascale Scheurer, director, Surface to Air, nationallly elected member of RIBA Council and chair of the Young Practitioners Panel
Holly Porter, director, Surface to Air, architectural assistant at KPF, member of Young Practitioners Panel executive committee and non-executive director, RIBA Enterprises
