Russell Brown studied at Newcastle and Bristol Universities and then at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York. He formed Hawkins\Brown with Roger Hawkins in 1988.
At present he is building the new Department of Biochemistry at Oxford University and Highfields Science Park in Nottingham. He is designing for the new Castle College campus in Nottingham, new buildings for Kingston and Coventry Universities and mixed use commercial schemes for Great Portland Estates, British Land, Galliard, Gladedale and Berkeley Homes.
Russell Brown is a Civic Trust Assessor, RIBA Awards Assessor and Judge of Young Architect of the Year. He was the External Examiner to Greenwich University School of Architecture for four years and is Chairman of the Design Panel in Hackney.
He is well known as an architectural commentator, writer and broadcaster and lectures regularly at schools of architecture both in the UK and the USA.
