Baroness Blackstone was Minister of State for the Arts and Minister of State for Education and Employment. Formerly Professor of Educational Administration at London University and Director of Education at the Inner London Educational Authority, she became the first woman Master at Birkbeck College from 1987-97. She was a trustee of the Architecture Foundation from 1991-97 and elected Chair of the RIBA Trust in December 2003.
