Coleraine Civic OfficesDesigned by Reiach and Hall Architects, Coleraine Civic Offices has provided a naturally lit, contemporary space that is appreciated by Local Government
In 1996 Coleraine Borough Council launched an RIBA competition to design a new purpose built headquarters and administrative centre for Coleraine Borough Council on a spectacular site near the River Bann.
Fourty-four teams expressed an interest and six were invited to interview. Reiach and Hall Architects in association with GM Design Associates of Coleraine won the competition.
Judges Comment from RIBA Awards 2001, "This new-build council headquarters was consistent and totally appropriate. The council chamber is a subtle exercise in the juxtaposition of two cubes, shifted one against the other, with the spaces in-between allowing daylight in, either at roof level or through hidden windows in the walls. The quiet, careful detailing is a delight."
The building was completed in 2000 and has since become the symbol and focus for Local Government in the area and is one of which the Council is extremely proud.
