Judges' comment
The jury was impressed by the way the architect employed a few key moves to bring a strong sense of identity to what is essentially a very simple building. The decision to 'cut away' a portion of the central corridors has created a top-lit full height 'canyon' bringing natural light to every floor. The resulting full-height wall has been clad in ply, a simple move which creates a strong sense of drama and warmth.
