Higher Education Design Quality Forum (HEDQF)

The HEDQF aims to improve the performance of buildings and estates in universities and higher education colleges. It was formed in 1995 to provide a long term forum for discussions between procurers in the higher education sector and the architectural profession. In addition to its annual conference at the Building Centre London this February 17th, the HEDQF will host a series of events exploring the following issues :

 

The Iconic Buildings Debate - 21 November 2008

Sustainability in the HE Sector - 19 January 2009

Learning from BSF-  18 May 2009

The LSE Learining Grid - 6 July 2009

The HEDQF believes that a high quality building should:

  • Meet users needs and exceed their expectations
  • Provide a positive environment for the activities that are accommodated
  • Make a positive contribution to its immediate surroundings
  • Help to promote a sense of community and social interaction
  • Be economic in maintenance and running terms
  • Be constructed with future needs or possible uses in mind
  • Be environmentally appropriate and incorporate current best practice
  • Provide value for money
  • Be constructed on time and on budget
