Álvaro Siza, respected for his inspiring body of work produced over 40 years, and for his immense contribution to architecture through dialogue and teaching; will be awarded the 2009 Royal Gold Medal at this prestigious black tie dinner. The Medal is awarded annually by the Sovereign for 'the advancement of architecture'.
At the same event, the Institute will present seven RIBA International Fellowships| - recognising the outstanding work of international architects and fourteen RIBA Honorary Fellowships| - awarded to non-architects from a wide range of backgrounds that have made a major contribution to architecture in the UK.
