Description:
Block 3, Tarling Estate- RIBA London Award Winner 2009
S333’s eye catching residential scheme challenges the traditional concept of the terrace bringing affordable, family homes back into an inner city area. Its character is defined by a strong surface material presence where a dark chocolate polyester concrete gives a luxurious feel, achieved within a tight budget. Concrete lends itself readily to surface manipulation and robust structural requirements. Could its residential use be encouraged through innovation that embeds sustainable technologies, high performance ratings as well as striking design features?
Projects architects on the Tarling Estate detail the processes behind surface material consideration with a discussion about how future technologies in concrete are evolving and pushing environmental standards in the sector.
Speakers:
Abigail Batchelor at S333 Architects and Elaine Toogood at the Concrete Centre.
Fees:
FREE- registration required.
