The RIBA held its 2007 Conference in Paris, 26-27 October, at Oscar Niemeyer's headquarters for the French Communist Party, the architect's favourite European project. Niemeyer, who turned 100 in December, addressed the conference via video.  

 

Exploring the concept of ‘collaboration’, the conference programme included Jean Nouvel, in conversation with Spencer de Grey; Rafael Vinoly; Will Alsop in conversation with artist Bruce McLean; new RIBA President Sunand Prasad; Mike Davies of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners in conversation with Andrew Wolstenholme, Project Director for Heathrow's T5; RIBA International Fellow Odile Decq; Roisin Heneghan, architect of the Grand Museum of Egypt in conversation with Buro happold engineer Tony McLaughlin; Ellen van Loon, OMA, architect of the 2007 Stirling shortlisted Casa da Musica in Porto. There was also a selection of receptions and architectural tours.

 

Foster + Partners kindly funded a bursary scheme for architectural students and young practising architects.
