Venue:

RIBA events will be held at different venues at the conference locations (Bournemouth, Birmingham and Manchester). See below for more details.

Description:

The RIBA is holding a series of exciting debates at the political party conferences this September. The fringe events will take place at each of the three party conferences being held in Bournemouth (Liberal Democrats), Manchester (Labour) and Birmingham (Conservatives).

The role architects and politicians have in creating happier cities; the security and defense measures that can be employed to make our towns and cities safer and the potential benefits and pitfalls of Eco-towns will all be put to the audience. All panels will include relevant Government ministers and party representatives, heads of important stakeholder bodies and a cross-section of professional experts.

Hazel Blears MP, Lembit Opik MP, Ed Vaizey MP, Dame Pauline Neville Jones, Sir Terry Farrell and Phil Redmond will be speaking at these events along with many others.

All of these fringe events will be held outside the secure zones of the party conferences and so are open to the public. We particularly welcome RIBA members practising in the regions where the conferences are taking place.
