This seminar deals with the issues faced when dealing with electrical installations after flood and fire damage and will also focus on the responsibilities of the building owner and occupier to ensure that these issues are minimised.

The first presentation will focus on damage prevention and limitation, safety and issues arising when assessing installations for safe reconnection to mains electricity. It will look at the type of damage that may occur and explain methods to rectify and ensure safe ongoing operation. The extent of potential damage will also be explained with practical solutions given. In addition, it will give details of how you are able to receive up-to-date information from the ECA and their partners.

The second presentation will address building owner and occupier responsibilities including those that apply to architects, specifiers and other associated professionals. It will address issues such as safe methods of working, the importance of signage and look at the legal obligations of PAT testing of appliances and periodic inspections of electrical installations. Part P of the building regulations will be explained as well as the requirements for fire alarms and emergency lighting.
