Open Mon-Sat: 10.00-17.00 except Tue: 10.00-21.00

Venue:

RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London W1B 1AD; Gallery 1 & Florence Hall

Description:

Haptic is an exhibition of design objects that focus on the sense of touch, producing an alternative design practice, one that originates in the senses.

The exhibition is curated by the influential Japanese designer Kenya Hara, Chief Executive Designer, Nippon Design Centre Inc. and MUJI, who invited exhibitors to create objects that displayed a quality of textual communication.

Haptic exhibitors include Hara himself, architects Toyo Ito and Shigeru Ban, designers from Panasonic, as well as product, fashion, graphics, and textile designers, a traditional Japanese plasterer, and a science and technology journalist.

The objects on display vary from clocks, cups and clothing for furniture, to silicone door handles and mobile phones, textured shoes and a water pachinko game.
