Stations for cable-cars and football stadiums, high-density housing, a court-house, an academy school and the refurbishment of an iconic concert venue make up the projects on this year's Stirling Prize shortlist in association with The Architect's Journal. The £20,000 prize will be presented on 11 October in Liverpool. The exhibition also explores the life and work of Sir James Stirling, the eminent architect and RIBA Gold Medallist for whom the prize is named, including his connection with Liverpool, where he studied at the Liverpool School of Architecture, University of Liverpool.

To mark Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008, the exhibition will also be on view 13–19 October, the first week after the announcement of the prize, at the Liverpool School of Architecture (Leverhulme Building), University of Liverpool.
