The Laban Centre is a school of contemporary dance based in south London. The colourful transparent building designed by Herzog & de Meuron is intended to show off silhouettes of the dancers within and to glow when lit up at night.
At the heart of the building there is a 300-seat theatre and on the lower level offices, a library and a cafeteria. Studio spaces of different shapes, sizes and colours are on the upper level. The architects collaborated with the artist Michael Craig-Martin to select the palette of colours used.
