Tomáš Bat’a employed the avant-garde architect Ludvík Kysela to design a number of shoe shops and factory buildings in a distinctive modern idiom. They could be found right across Europe, from Prague and Zlín (also in Czechoslovakia), to Tilbury and Rome. This store in Wenceslas Square is the biggest Bat’a in Europe, covering five retail floors.
