This is one of a number of record drawings of undated designs made by Bodley for Barkentin & Krall. Most are probably for stock items sold by the firm in its Regent Street shop. Jess Barkentin went into partnership with the Dane Carl Krall in London in about 1869. The design is based on late-medieval Netherlandish and German chalices.
