Description:
Of Dreams and Cities – Architecture in Film
A season of films celebrating the RIBA's 175th Anniversary
Explore how our lives are shaped by architects and the built environment through a season of films, held at BFI Southbank. Of Dreams and Cities – Architecture in Film is a varied programme of documentaries, features, silent classics and European cinema gems that demonstrate how the cinema uses architects and the built environment to influence our emotional responses.
Enjoy a wide range of films from Murnau's Sunrise and Tati's Playtime to Peter Greenaway's The Belly of an Architect, Terence Davies' Of Time and the City and Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg.
In addition, a specially created collection of rare British films and TV documentaries from the BFI National Archive is available to view free of charge in the Mediatheques (BFI Southbank, Cambridge Central Library, and the QUAD, Derby), including László Moholy-Nagy's New Architecture at the London Zoo, and The Ten Year Plan.
