Description:
From Xanadu to Chatres, a lecture by BFI Head of Programmes Geoff Andrew.
Throughout his illustrious career, Orson Welles made highly imaginative use of buildings and sets as a means of enhancing not only the moods but the meanings of his films. As part of the BFI's Of Dreams and Cities: Architecture in Film| season, and tying in with their re-release of Citizen Kane, Geoff Andrew, Head of Film Programmes at BFI Southbank, will give an illustrated talk that will explore Welles' use of architecture as a fertile source of metaphor for all his work, but with special reference to Citizen Kane.
Citizen Kane (USA, 1941, dir Orson Welles) screens at 20:30pm
