HE Workshops

Workshop format

Who?

The workshops have been devised by Dr. Irena Murray, the Library curators and education team. Dr. Murray, the Sir Banister Fletcher Director of the British Architectural Library, is the editor with Julian Osley of the forthcoming book Le Corbusier and Britain: An Anthology. She has also curated, with Peter Carl, the exhibition An Olympic Stadium Project: Le Corbusier and Baghdad, on show at the V&A. The workshops will be led by Library staff including Dr. Murray and Dr. Paul Snell, education curator.

What?

Each workshop is designed to take about 45 minutes, with additional time for discussion. During the workshop, participants can directly engage with materials from the Library collections, ranging from books and periodicals, to photographs, drawings, and archives. The workshops are designed to be flexible, to adapt to interests and curricula. They can also be combined with inductions to the library collections, or visits to exhibitions and events.

Access to introductory subject material for each workshop is available online, for more information click here. Supporting images can be found at Ribapix|, the RIBA Library’s outstanding online image database.

Where?

The workshops will usually be held in the CETLD Bene Education Room, at the RIBA British Architectural Library, 66 Portland Place. This ensures access to the Library’s outstanding book, periodical, and photographs collections. However, some workshops may be hosted at the Architecture Study Rooms at the Victoria and Albert Museum, part of the V&A+RIBA Architecture Partnership. To find out more about facilities, click here.

When?

The workshops are available from October, as part of the RIBA Le Corbusier Season. They are best experienced in conjunction with various Le Corbusier Season events including:

Le Corbusier: The Art of Architecture exhibition|
An Olympic Stadium Project: Le Corbusier and Baghdad
Cabonon of Curiosity: Le Corbusier’s Castle

How Much?

For Higher Education groups the workshops are normally free. For other education groups and amenity societies, some charges may apply. Further information is available at library.education@inst.riba.org|
