    Every first Tuesday of the month 6pm - 7pm
    The British Architectural Library is the largest and most comprehensive resource in the United Kingdom for research and information on all aspects of architecture. It is regarded as the national collection on architecture in the UK.
    This practical session for those keen to find out more about the Library’s collections and tips on the best way to find what you’re looking for.

    Meet: RIBA, 66 Portland Place
    Practical drawing workshop. Develop your drawing skills and experiment with new techniques inspired by the RIBA’s collections, concludes with practical drawing on-site looking at the architecture around Liverpool Street.

    Practical drawing workshop. Beginning with a workshop looking at items from RIBA’s collections, the session concludes with practical drawing on-site looking at the  architecture around Kings Cross.

    Practical drawing workshop. Practice your perspective drawing and other approaches through the RIBA’s collections and on-site looking at the utopian architecture of Elephant and Castle’s Heygate Estate.

  • Summer Run, Jump, Shoot
    Saturday 29 June, 1 - 5pm
    Meet: RIBA, 66 Portland Place
    Top up your photography techniques by exploring new ways of capturing architecture through photography. Beginning at the RIBA’s photographic archive the workshop concludes with a hands-on session investigating the iconic architecture of Rowley Road through the photographic lens.

Children’s Summer Sessions - for 7-12 years

  • Model-making
    Monday 5 August, 10am - 4pm
    Practical creative workshops for 7-12 year olds. Children will discover the skills needed to make magnificent models and get creative with different materials. Children will learn model-making techniques and create their own 3D models. 
  • Rubbings & reliefs
    Tuesday 6 August, 10am - 4pm
    Practical creative workshops for 7-12 year olds. Children will investigate story-telling through decorative design, intriguing items and the Art Deco plaster reliefs at 66 Portland Place. They will design their own decorative story-telling panels.
  • Design tricks & trapdoors
    Wednesday 7 August, 10am - 4pm
    Practical creative workshops for 7-12 year olds. Children will uncover the ingenious secret design features hidden at 66 Portland Place to help them create daring designs and contraptions for their own fantastical buildings.
  • Pop-up pocket books
    Thursday 8 August, 10am - 4pm
    Practical creative workshops for 7-12 year olds. Children will explore RIBA’s curious collection of London pocket guidebooks from the 1800’s and design their own map of the city and pop-up pocket book of city highlights.
  • Green means go
    Friday 9 August, 10am - 4pm
    Practical creative workshops for 7-12 year olds. Children will find out about eco-design and how recycled materials are used in buildings. Using the RIBA’s collection they will design their own green buildings using recycled materials.

Skill Up - for 16-19 years

  • Sketch & Study
    Tuesday 20 August, 11am - 4pm
    Top up your sketching skills. Using the RIBA’s incredible collections and the city itself as inspiration you will practice different drawing techniques, try out a variety of materials and draw directly from iconic architecture. 
  • Create & Make
    Wednesday 21 August, 11am - 4pm
    Find out more about architectural design and learn tricks of the trade to present your ideas in new and exciting ways. Practice your drawing and making skills, see how architects have presented their designs and explained their ideas. 
  • Understanding Architecture: from brief to build
    Thursday 22 August, 11am - 4pm
    Experience a whirlwind tour of the architectural design process. using the RIBA's HQ building, you will delve into the collection to investigate the existing building and conduct your own practical site studies to create alternative designs.

Skill Up - for 16-19 years

  • Create! Architectural Drawing at the V&A
    Wednesday 28 August, 11am - 4pm
    If you want to be an architect you need to be able to draw. Using examples from the RIBA’s world-class drawings collection at the V&A as inspiration, try different techniques to capture mood, present ideas and show detail in your designs.
