  • Charles Correa & Out of India Season
    14 May - 4 September 2013
    The RIBA presents a new summer season of events, discussions, film screenings and more to mark a new landmark exhibition celebrating the work of Charles Correa. Celebrating India's Greatest Architect it explores stories and influences from modern urban India. Highlights include a lecture by Correa, discussions looking at urbanism, art and symbolism and a special Last Tuesday exploring Mumbai.

Lecture

  • Sir Terry Farrell - London Festival of Architecture 2013
    Tuesday 4 June, 6 - 7.30pm
    To mark the start of London's annual month long citywide exploration of architecture LFA Ambassador, architect and planner Sir Terry Farrell leads a lecture and discussion investigating the importance of architecture and design in the capital's success and place making. With panel discussion of leading figures to follow.

Building Futures debate

  • This house believes that UNESCO is holding back our cities

    The RIBA's think-tank Building Futures explores the conflict between preservation of heritage and the development of our cities; are we striking the right balance? Is the preservation of heritage becoming a real obstacle to creating great cities fit for the future?  How much influence should an organisation like UNESCO have over the way we shape our cities?

  • Chromazone: Colour in Contemporary Architecture
    Wednesday 19 June 2013, 1.15 - 2pm
    Why has there been such an explosion of colour in recent architecture? Curator Rob Wilson looks at key recent projects by David Chipperfield, Renzo Piano, Diener & Diener, Will Alsop and others to explore architecture's often problematic relationship to colour - from 19th Century classical debate to today's 'any colour as long as its white (or tasteful grey)!'

Closer Look Talk

  • John Buonarotti Papworth: 'any job, any style, any client' 
    Tuesday 23 July 2013, 1 - 2pm
    Hailed as a second Michelangelo byhis friends, J.B. Papworth  was an architect of incredible versatility. From grand country house interiors to Chinese-stye shop fronts, no commission was beyond the scope of his practice. Using original drawings from the RIBA Collections this talk offers an overview of an exceptionally diverse career in architecture.
