Description:
Designing in sustainability: recent projects
Julia Barfield, Founder Director, Marks Barfield Architects
Co-chaired by Barry Clarke, Vice President, ICE and
Jane Duncan, Vice President, RIBA
Julia Barfield of Marks Barfield, designers of the London Eye, will be discussing recently completed projects including:
-
The Lightbox, winner of this year’s Art Fund Prize
-
The Michael Tippett School, the first British Schools Foundation project in London
-
The Lincoln Innovation Centre.
The issue of how to embed sustainability into a project from its inception is one that concerns architects and engineers alike. Rather than sustainability being an afterthought, the lecture will explore the importance and realities of embedding sustainability issues from the beginning.
A drinks reception will follow the lecture. This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet Julia in person and to discuss with fellow delegates the themes and ideas raised during the lecture.
Fees:
The lecture and drinks reception are free of charge.
Booking:
However, advance booking is essential as places are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis
