NOTES: Completed in 1885 by Clement Dunscombe, these multiple dwellings were considered a pioneer venture in municipal housing in their time. Extensively bomb damaged in 1941, the number of dwellings was reduced from the original 270 to 215. The remaining blocks were kept, replanned internally and converted into fewer flats, but with increased living space in 1954. The architect for the conversion was the city architect Dr Ronald Bradbury.
