Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre, Japan
The Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre is located in a densely inhabited part of Matsumoto and invites the public to attend performances and art exhibitions within an elegant, sinuous wave that comprises the exterior of the building, arising out of its soft geometry. Built on a 8,996 m2 lot, the centre is intended primarily for theatre and opera. The building has a total of nine levels, two of which are underground, and is made of steel and reinforced concrete. The project was completed in 2004.
