The Health and Safety Executive's recent Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) came into effect on 6 April 2015, with transitional arrangements that ended 6 October 2015. The changes address concerns raised by the construction industry, as well as under/over implementation of the EU Directive requirements. The course will provide you with sufficient knowledge and guidance to enhance your existing skills, knowledge and understanding as 'designers', enabling you to assume the Principal Designer role on ongoing projects.

The course explores the Principal Designer role in an interactive and engaging format, designed and led by architect Paul Bussey, author of CDM 2015: A Practical Guide for Architects and Designers, and civil engineer Tony Putsman from the Institution of Civil Engineers. The interactive course will be delivered over two days (11.5 hours in total), with a week-long gap in between, allowing you time to reflect and revise.

Who is the course for?
Although the course is mainly aimed at architects with 3 or more years’ experience, it is also suitable for other Duty Holders (Designers, Principal Contractors, Contractors, Clients) looking to learn more about the new Principal Designer role. For more information on the course dates and locations, please see the course flyer

RIBA's accredited Principal Designer course defines and provides adequate 'skills, knowledge, experience' to a professionally agreed standard. To show awareness  and capability to deliver this role there is an industry expectation for people to demonstrate attendance and knowledge attained.

The latter may be demonstrated by a quiz which you can access online.  Taking this quiz could be useful for you should you need evidence that you have skills, knowledge and understanding of the principal designer role.  Together with a Certificate of Attendance showing that you attended this RIBA-accredited course, the quiz results could be useful should a client or another stakeholder or external body require evidence.

As a result of feedback, we are now issuing Exam Result Certificates, including the exam score, to all delegates who have passed this online exam (pass score 75%).
