The changing face of workspace
Monday 22 June
The last few decades have seen big changes in our office environments, with tech companies such as Google and ASOS visibly setting the bar for an entirely new approach to the traditional desk, swivel chair and in-tray that have faithfully accompanied us day in and day out.
Rapid advances in technologies and communication have been strong drivers in these changes, bringing a new dynamism and speed to our working lives, however do these changes and the way we work have a greater impact on us as than we might expect?
Chaired by Grant Gibson (Curator Crafts Council, columnist for onoffice and former editor of Blueprint), join our expert panel Sam Jacob (Professor, columnist, curator and Architect, Sam Jacob Studio), Linda Morey-Burrows (principal director of interior architectural practice MoreySmith), Jeremy Myerson (Director or the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, RCA and author) and Nikil Saval (Author of 'Cubed: A secret history of the workplace', 2014), as they discuss the origins of the working environments we know today, how and why they are changing and where the individual sits in the midst of it all.
