Salary: £42,000 - £49,000

The RIBA is recruiting for a Head of Learning to lead the strategic development and delivery of a vibrant, stimulating and enjoyable collections-based architecture education programme.
With a new Clore Learning Centre opening at 66 Portland Place in early 2019, thanks to a generous grant from the Clore Duffield Foundation, and a major HLF grant bid Building Modern Britain currently in preparation, this is a great time to be joining the RIBA.
The Head of Learning leads a team of permanent and project-based staff, freelance educators and volunteers to develop and deliver a National Schools Programme; an informal learning programme for families, children and young people; and a dynamic adult learning and community engagement programme.
The team delivers a range of hands-on creative events, workshops and courses to support learners of all ages, experiences and background in understanding how the spaces and places in which they live, learn, work and play come to be. Inspired by the work of our members – past and present – and drawing on our world-class collections, the Learning programme investigates architecture through art, digital media, and in real-world contexts, encouraging learners to think critically and test the bounds of their creativity.
The Learning team sits within the British Architectural Library, an Arts Council Accredited Museum and Designated Collection which is home to the one of the world’s foremost architectural collections, comprising over 4-million items including books, drawings, archives, manuscripts and photographs dating back to 1478. In addition to its Learning programmes BAL also runs an extensive public programme of exhibitions, talks and events for wide-ranging audiences.
Candidates will have extensive experience of delivering learning within the cultural or heritage sector and a proven track record of staff, project and financial management, evidenced through tangible success in translating strategic vision into practical outcomes.
