​Head of Project Management Office

Salary: Up to £59,000
Location: London
Hours: 35 hours per week, permanent

The Head of the Project Management Office (PMO) will be responsible for three key areas:

  • overseeing the portfolio of organisational projects across the organisation to achieve strategic objectives – providing expert knowledge and support and monitoring progress and reporting on the project portfolio status.
  • managing projects and programmes directly to steer change and deliver benefits, maximising the value delivered by the RIBA to its members and customers and the operational effectiveness and efficiency of staff-led and automated processes.
  • the development, deployment and on-going iteration of the organisation’s project lifecycle approach.

The successful candidate will provide strong leadership in a matrix environment to promote best practices in managing interrelated projects and programmes to ensure successful delivery. Ensuring project resources have the correct toolsets and processes in place and that all relevant staff are trained and equipped to deliver successfully.

Strong project or programme management and excellent organisational skills are fundamental, as is the ability to work with people at all levels of the organisation.

You will have significant experience at a senior level in a PMO function, qualification and demonstrable experience in PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent. First class organisational skills, an ability to plan programmes of work, including well-developed conceptual ability to analyse opportunities and create innovative solutions.

Team management experience with the ability to motivate, mentor and coach the PMO and virtual or matrix project teams across an organisation. You will also need to be comfortable with meeting challenging deadlines and working within a changing environment.
