Responsibilities: The VP International chairs the RIBA International Committee, which provides strategic leadership and support for members, practices and the RIBA internationally. They are also a trustee of the RIBA.

Liaison: working across the RIBA, with the Head of International and key members of RIBA departments, to influence key stakeholders in architectural practice, including RIBA chartered practices, the Architects Registration Board, international architectural groups such as ACE, UIA, CAA and others, and UK government organisations such as British Council and UKTI.

Support: Supporting, with the Director of International, the work of the international team - especially at RIBA Board level

Time commitment: The VP International will need to devote the following (approximate) annual time commitments to attendance at the RIBA:

  • four 1 day Council meetings
  • three half-day international Committee meetings
  • six half-day RIBA Board meetings
  • six briefing meetings with Head of International

In addition the VP International is invited to attend international related events, meetings with inward delegations and groups of foreign visitors, and on occasion undertake overseas visits.

Eligibility: RIBA Chartered members may put themselves forward provided they have the support of two members of the RIBA Council serving in the 2019 to 2020 session.

Term of office: For an initial period of up to one year, commencing 2 October 2019. Candidates are asked to note that owing to the RIBA’s constitutional review, the terms of office are likely to be subject to change in spring 2020.
