The appointment was made following an open call to all accredited RIBA Client Advisers.

66 Portland Place opened in 1934 as the headquarters of the RIBA. It is a beautiful building with a magnificent heritage and has special significance both to RIBA members and as a London landmark. The plan is to develop a vision for the next 80 years of the building’s use.

Sarah Williams, S.Williams Architects said:
"I am delighted to have been appointed for this important project and look forward to working with everyone at the RIBA, developing an exciting and coherent vision for the future of this landmark building."

Sarah will now work with the RIBA team to propose an initial consultation process with a full range of stakeholders. It is anticipated that this work will inform a subsequent competitive process to select an architect to develop the masterplan.
