The project lies on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in a very prominent position on what is an historically important site – the former entrance to Warrington docks. The now disused locks connected the River Mersey to the Manchester Ship Canal and provided the potential to create a vibrant and exciting urban waterfront development using the former docks as a framework. The site comprises 250 units ranging from two-bed apartments to 4 bed family homes. cb3 design were appointed, after the initial planning permission was obtained by others, to prepare revised planning applications for two apartment blocks and several houses on the site. Having revised the scheme to add commercial value for the client and provide a more site responsive solution we were then appointed to prepare detailed technical drawings and limited onsite support, as required by the contractor, to see the blocks completed and occupied.
