Interpretation pieces for the 1966 World Cup exhibition jointly staged at the National Football Museum and Wembley Stadium. The installation encouraged visitors to explore the lives and stories of the people involved with the 1966 World Cup. To contextualise the exhibition, we created three room sets that reflected the home of an aspirational family at the time. These were staged to document the moment after the final whistle had been blown and the family had left to celebrate England’s victory. The installation contains large scale constructions, authentic domestic items, and an audio-visual experience in form of a re-make of a television programme aired at the time. To support the audience development of non-football visitors and families it also included smaller interactive exhibits that were both accessible and intergenerational, such as sensory smell stations, a selection of giant games, drawing and dressing up zones and a feedback area. All interpretation pieces were designed, built, and installed by us.
