A private client approached us to work within the confines of a Grade II Listed detached Victorian property located in Bedford Park Conservation Area, Chiswick to add a contemporary feel to the internal layout of a family home. The proposal comprised of the refurbishment of two bathrooms, a master bedroom complete with en-suite at first floor and reconfiguration of the roof area to accommodate a self-contained living room/bedroom with contemporary kitchenette. Since the couple were creative and weren’t afraid of bold statements, we approached the scheme by considering the age, style of the house and the amount of natural light, then worked into colour palettes appropriate for areas and the use of material and textures to emphasis their main focal points. As part of the contemporary internal face-lift, painted flush panel built in wall storage/cupboards were integrated into the rooms – avoiding visually distracting handles and knobs.
