The Fountain Head , 20 Quarry Street , GUILDFORD , Surrey , GU1 3UY

In the latest phase of work carried out by Lytle Associates at Guildford High School for Girls they wished to replace their existing swimming pool and limited sports changing facilities with a new pool, sports hall, changing and hospitality space. Due to the sensitive nature of the site by Stoke Park, extensive local consultation and design development was carried out, leading to the submission of a successful application for outline planning permission. The new sports hall is constructed partly underground to maximise the use of space on the site. The hall is designed to accommodate a range of sports at County/National Standard. The design features a large curved roof and balcony overlooking the pitches. The pitches have been re-levelled and the tennis courts renewed. The contract value is £4.2 million, negotiated with a local contractor as a design and build contract.
