The project involves the proposed reconfiguration and extension of an existing red brick double–bay detached villa in North Belfast and a new single–storey artist studio in the rear garden of a home in Waterloo Gardens, Belfast. Key aspects of the brief were to facilitate a new public entrance for future painting classes, whilst ensuring there was an additional layer of privacy to the front garden and associated views out/in from front–facing reception rooms. The strategy for this front boundary was also to integrate services such as bin storage in a neat, ergonomic and visually satisfying manner. Internally, the existing lack of hallway condition needed reconfigured for additional privacy, threshold sequence, experience and storage.
