This ground breaking development in Birmingham is the first integrated stand-alone dental hospital and school of dentistry to be built in the UK for almost 40 years. Construction will begin on the project in 2013, on the site of the former BBC Pebble Mill studios. The dental hospital will have 153 dental chairs with teaching, laboratory, research, administration and amenity accommodation and will be split by a central entrance and atrium, with the clinical area in one wing and the educational and research facilities based in another. Commissioned by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust, the new dental hospital will become an integral part of the University of Birmingham’s School of Dentistry, also supporting undergraduate and postgraduate dental education.
