When the Highbury Vale police station in Finsbury Park was closed as part of a nationwide sweep of cost reduction measures, the site was sold, and alternative uses were assessed for the assembly of 3-4-storey buildings occupying the site. The disused courtyard between the original building along Blackstock Road and the building to the rear of the site was integrated in the ground floor space, which were merged as one space for commercial use. The existing decorative facades were fully retained and any insertions or blocking of existing openings sensitively designed to be able to read the historic fabric. The conversion allowed the creating of eight residential units on the upper floors, and commercial maisonettes on ground and lower ground floors.
