Situated in a quiet Chelsea residential street this five-storey house requires complete renovation with a new underground gym to better suit the lifestyle and requirements of our clients. The main design challenge faced was to maintain the existing levels while incorporating an underground gym with views towards the sky and the main building. The key to fulfilling the brief was successful assimilation of these interventions with the historic fabric of the building to provide a contemporary living environment, while still securing planning for this ambitious scheme. The open-plan ground floor space functions as the central hub of the house for the entire family. On the lower ground floor, our reconfiguration ensures that new areas are best suited for their intended use. Extending further towards the rear allows for the creation of adequate space for large gatherings in the dining and kitchen areas with a direct relationship to the garden.
