Chapel House , City Road , CHESTER , Cheshire , CH1 3AE , United Kingdom
Thornton Bank is a mixed development for Muir Group Housing Association of seven family houses and six sheltered bungalows to answer the local housing needs of Alpraham. The prominent corner site, set in the centre of the village was offered at a generously discounted figure by Lord Leverhulme, enabling rents to be kept to affordable levels. Alongside the main Chester to Nantwich road, the frontage of the site is detailed by a new terrace of five family houses, slightly elevated and aligned to address the main road junction. The scale and detailing have been carefully managed to establish the new dwellings as an integral part of the village. A further pair of family houses and the six bungalows for the elderly are grouped around a small vehicular courtyard, accessed off the secondary road.
