The Portland Place apartment had still its original layout when we the owner acquired it. It only had one bathroom, a dark kitchen, and a separate dining room. We aimed to make the best of flow and light in the apartment by reconfiguring the space. We removed a door that led to the hallway, designing an open space kitchen - dining - living room, with the later two being on a raised level. The Portland Place apartment has now two bedrooms - one single, and the other double; both have ensuite bathroom and bespoke joinery. The master bedroom has a build-in wardrobe that comes with an integrated TV and a walnut bookcase. A long seat by the window comes with a hidden storage and padded seats that are golden in colour. The master bathroom is elegant and calming with a ceiling high mirror and integrated lighting. The bespoke vanity unit comes with a Callcata marble top. In the second bedroom, a fold-up bed is hidden in a bespoke made joinery. The full-wall build-in wardrobes turn the room into a private dressing room. The ensuite shower-room has been styled with feature tiling and a walk-in shower. White has been chosen as the predominant scheme for this apartment. It acts as a background for artworks by Crystal Fischetti. The project also required high quality lighting. Rooms have LED strips hidden in coffer ceilings, as well as additional lighting points. We have ensured that we preserve the history of the building by restoring the original lighting and integrating it into the master suite and the apartment’s living room. Whereas cornices were inspired by Art Deco. The approach to the project has been truly bespoke, with tailor-made vanity units, joinery, kitchen units, doors, and window seats. All the wardrobes have natural walnut interiors, LED lighting and high-gloss white fronts. There are also push-to-open compartments and sliding doors to help maximise storage space and increase convenience.
