NOTES: The church, an early cathedral of Genoa, was rebuilt in the Romanesque style around 1398. Following a fire in the late 1500s it was reconstructed in the late 16th-early 17th centuries. The drawing is one of a series executed in an unidentified Italian hand, collected by Peter Paul Rubens and published in engraved form in his book 'I Palazzi di Genova' (Antwerp, 1622). The publication was divided into two parts: 'Palazzi Antichi' and 'Palazzi Moderni' (where this particular image appears in reverse as Fig. 59). Subsequent additions appeared in 1652 and 1663 and the book was Rubens' only work on pure architecture.
