Notes NOTES: This drawing is numbered XII/8v in the Burlington-Devonshire Collection. It is a side elevation of the Arch of Augustus in Susa near Turin. The arch was erected in 8 BC to commemorate the alliance between the local Gaulish chieftain and the Roman Emperor Augustus.
