NOTES: Edensor was moved from its original site to its present one between 1838 and 1842 at the wish of the sixth Duke of Devonshire not to have the village in sight of Chatsworth. The planning of the new site was entrusted to the Duke's gardener, Joseph Paxton. This was Paxton's own house built by himself with his assistant John Robertson.
