NOTES: The revolutionary 'model village' of Oakdale was the brainchild of the manager of the Tredegar Iron and Coal Company, Mr A S Tallis. It was built to accomodate miners working at the new Oakdale colliery and construction work on the village buildings commenced in around 1911.
