NOTES:
Dr. Henry Edward Schunck [Schunk], a noted chemist, built himself a private laboratory in the grounds of his home in Kersal (Salford). At his death in 1903 he bequeathed over £20,000 and his entire laboratory and its contents to the University. The laboratory was carefully demolished and reconstructed on the University site.
