NOTES: The terrace was built in 1806; the Ionic Royal Colonnade, added by Cooper & Lynn in 1823, is visible on the left. The Theatre Royal, on the right of the image, was designed at the same time as the terrace but substantially remodelled in 1866 and refaced by Clayton & Black in 1894. In the same year the theatre was also extended into no. 9-10 and the cast-iron Corinthian colonnade added to the facade.
