Abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat, Catalonia: the monastery and the pinnacles of 'los Apostoles' seen through an archway

NOTES: The Benedictine monastery is located near the top of the 4,000-foot Mount Montserrat. Pilgrims have been drawn to the mountain since the 12th century to venerate the Romanesque statue of the Black Madonna (La Moreneta), the shrine of which is in the Basilica, consecrated in 1592, next to the monastery.
