NOTES: This is one of the three massive gateways of the Fatimid wall built by three Syrian brothers from Edessa for Badr al-Jamali, who ruled Egypt from 1074 to 1094. The other two gateways are the Bab an-Nasr (Victory Gate) and the Bab Zuwayla.
