NOTES: This drawing is dated circa 1917 because that is the year Voysey moved from 10 New Square, Lincoln's Inn (the crossed out address on the drawing) to 73 St James's Street (the inserted address). The Home Arts and Industries Association (HAIA) aimed to bring the Arts & Crafts Movement into the houses of Britain and the craft revival to thousands of mainly rural-based students. The association trained teachers in one of the 'old cottage crafts' and then when ready sent them out to start a class in the wider community. This Voysey design was prepared for the HAIA possibly with the intention to be used in their associated metalwork classes.
