NOTES: Moorcroft House was a mental asylum by at least 1810 and in 1818 James Stillwell, a surgeon who had already had experience running a private asylum, purchased the building and business. Four of James Stilwell's sons qualified as surgeons and it appears to be the sons who are listed here on this print. The house was much expanded and finally was sold to the local council by the last family owner in 1953.
